End of 2011, my journey so far.

All in all it has been a great year. I was starting to get that mindset right and started being healthier and a bit more active. As a bonus some weight came off, slowly but it was off. I didn't really mind, I was happy afterall I wasn't that big was I?
We had a great family holiday but then we came home and looking at the photos I was shocked. Much bigger than I thought I was. I stepped on the Wii Board and found myself in the obese range, not just slightly overweight as I thought.

Here is a photo of me in Thailand at 98kg (July 2011)

I won a 3 month gym membership at a school fundraiser and started my journey, the weight started coming off, but it wasn't quick enough. Then I found out about 12wbt from a very good friend of mine and she convinced me to sign on. Well that was the best decision I could have made. Suddenly I learned how I should be eating, all those 'healthy' meals I thought I was having were actually NOT healthy. Following Michelle Bridges 12wbt the weight melted off. Now I cannot believe the changes in me.

Start of Round 3 12wbt 2011 I was 92.2kg

And 12 weeks later I had lost 17kg making me 75.2kg

Today I am 71.8kg (according to my brand new scales I got for Christmas!)

2012 is going to be a much better year! I am gonna smash it, get to goal weight and enter my first fun run. I have lost 31.9kg since starting my Journey in May 2011 and this new life is continuing in 2012 and beyond!
Round 1 2012 will see me get to my goal weight
Round 2 2012 will see me tone my new kick ass body
Round 3 2012 will be the time for my fun run.

I'm enjoying my new life and I can't wait to kick those goals and challenge myself! Roll on 2012.

After Christmas

I did it... I stood on the scales today, completely nervous about what I might see and then suddenly complete shock! A 200g loss. I managed it, being a little bit naughty and nice but mostly eating healthily I did what I set out to do, lost over Christmas.

I've now also set up my new scales I got from Mum & Dad for Christmas, problem there is they are saying I am 1.2kg more than my Wii Board. Well I did freak out a little at first but I know I have had a loss over Christmas and I just have to keep reminding myself that. I will weigh in on both each week until 12wbt Round 1 kick off then it'll just be WW scales from there.

Now for my new challenge - I am not changing my goals. I am going to lose that extra 1.2kg that the WW scales say I am before kick off!

Now all I need to do is survive New Years. Can I do it? Of course I can!!!

Surviving Christmas

Well the lead up has been scary with my daughter bringing home chocolates and other goodies from school. Yes I have had some however I have been restrained and not over indulged and still managed to shed some of that unwanted weight.

I had already decided that for Christmas I will sample some of the goodies. Yesterday we made Gingerbread Biscuits and I had 2 (one as me and one as Mrs Claus LOL). Today I had a day of small healthy snacks, had a healthy home made pizza for brunch which was divine. Dinner was deliciously refreshing and healthy. Sushi Rolls made by me, Mish's Crunchtime Cookbook Coleslaw and a few Aussie Tiger Prawns. I feel satisfied yet not over full. I just made sure I sampled and didn't go crazy. Then for dessert we enjoyed a delicious Strawberry and Passionfruit Yoghurt Semifreddo  (another crumchtime cookbook recipe and OMG divine!)

Last Christmas i'd be flaked out on the couch after overindulging on all the wrong foods and I find I have enjoyed this Christmas much more than usual as with my new eating habits i'm feeling less stressed.

The kids have had a great day and enjoyed their dinner and dessert. One thing i've learned on 12wbt is to be prepared with my food so avoid making the wrong choices so all food was made yesterday and today I was free to relax with my family making it my best Christmas ever.

As for leftovers, there is just a little coleslaw left so no boxing day over indulging! Infact we have another Mish Menu planned.

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas.

My Hero

Had the pleasure of a lovely chat with the very lovely Michelle Bridges (Mish) today at her book signing. We talked about 12wbt and how much it has helped me and how I hope it will  help my sister (I am sure it will as this is a very well balanced lifestyle program not some stupid fad). We also talked about how good Sydney was last weekend.

Mish is truly inspiring, she is so bright and full of energy you can't help but be inspired by her. 12wbt has changed me on the outside but also on the inside. My way of thinking has completely changed and i'm a much happier person for it. My kids are happier now that i'm not a grumpy Mummy!

Can't wait for Round 1 to officially start. This time I will be more active in the 12wbt forums and not just on Facebook and Twitter LOL

My Goals

Well I have been going through my goals so I'm going to put it out there so I publicly have something to stick to.

Weight: At the end of 12wbt Round 1 2012 I will be at my goal weight of 65kg. This is the weight where I reassess my goal weight and decide whether to go further or maintain.

Fitness Test: I am going to run my 1km time trial in under 7 minutes by the end of Round 1

Fun Run: In the last quarter of 2012 I plan to be strong enough in my knees to complete my very first fun run.

I am determined to complete all my goals. Just watch me succeed!

Struggling this week

This week has been hectic. Christmas is getting closer and closer and I now have to face reality. There is shopping to be done, events to attend BUT I can still make healthy eating choices (altho it was a bad one yesterday!) Weighed in today and atleast i've maintained the same weight since Monday.

I am changing up my diet slightly, protein today, tomorrow and Saturday.

As for my hectic week, I think I need a holiday. Stepping down the workouts to make room for Christmas shopping and of course all the events I have on at this time of year. I just have to remember the key is to eat clean and i'll be fine!

Righto so day 1 of protein kick is done. I'm sure i'll be a grumpy mamma tomorrow LOL

My Journey So Far

I can't believe how far i've already come in such a short time. It was the end of May 2011. I stood on the scales and couldn't believe my eyes 103kg was staring me in the face. Right then and there I decided my lifestyle had to change. I started going to Body Pump classes as a guest, a promotion my local gym had going during June 2011. I didn't join up right away as we were heading on holiday to Thailand and I decided to join on my return.

We arrived back from the holiday, I stepped on the scales and was 98.5kg. All that walking around in the humidity had helped and that spurred me on towards my goal. Before I managed to join the gym, I had won a 3 month membership from my daughters school in a fundraiser so I started the next day. They weighed and measured me at the gym on July 29 and I was 96.6kg. I was in the gym every day, determined and then I was told about Michelle Bridges 12wbt by a friend (OMG I can't thank her enough!) I signed up, completed all my pre season tasks. Kick off was 12th September I was 92.2kg. That is when the weight started melting off me. Once I understood that what I thought was healthy actually wasn't and I followed Mish's meal plans I was losing more than 1kg per week. During that 12 week stint I lost 17kg which was 18.44% of my body fat. I have gone from 'obese' to 'overweight'.

But other than the weight loss, so much more has happened. My knees are so much stronger, I am sleeping so much better, my skin and hair is healthier and i'm happier than I have been in a long time.

And that is my beginning, this blog is my continued story, something I can look back on to see how far I have come. I hope you are inspired by my journey.
