Round 2 2012 Preseason Tasks

Preseason Task #1 Get Real
This will be my 3rd round and yet every time I do this task I find i've come up with other excuses! This time my big excuse was that i'm 'Too Tired'! Well HELLO Chantz - get to bed earlier, have a good sleep and get your butt into the gym!
With winter here i've been using the 'Too Cold' excuse. OMG how silly is that one? What better way to warm up than exercise?
And with the excuses that are out of my control well that is obvious for me - Sick kids! Well I do have my Cardio Kicker DVD here so I can easily use that!

I'm sure more excuses will creep in and i'm determined to pick up on them right away and deal with it!

Preseason Task #2 Set your Goals
This one was quite hard for me as now I need to go beyond weight loss goals which is a complete mind shift!
This Round I have decided to do Lean & Fit but up my weights to try and build some muscle and also tone up a bit too.
So my 1 month goal is to hit 60kg for 4th June. I've been having a few issues with this but i'm on it now and I WILL do this!
Then my 3 month goal is to maintain that weight, possibly even drop a couple more kg and tone up.
My 6 month goal is the BIG ONE (well the warm up to the big one LOL) Valley Stampede Oct 2012 as seen on The Biggest Loser Aus!
Then Tough Mudder for February 2013 is my 12 month goal. I'm really quite scared of these last 2 goals but I know I can do whatever I set my mind to and i'm sure it'll also be a lot of fun!

Preseason Task #3 Gear Up
This one is a little hard for me to do as I already have several items required for my training and eating. I have a great set of scales and also kitchen scales. I have my best buddy Polar FT7 and another Polar on the way for a spare! I recently got new gym gear that actually fits me (no more hiking up my gym pants LOL) and the last thing is my iPod!

Preseason Task #4 Say it out Loud
This took me a long time to do this time. I wasn't having issues committing, just putting it into words so this is what I posted!
OK I need to get this out so here goes.... I've had a lot of emotional/mental issues with myself and parts of my personal life to the point I was close to giving up on 12WBT and leaving this group. I've been having issues with eating again which has caused me to gain a lot more than i'd ever be OK with. With everything going on i've struggled with my commitment task so i've been through the first few tasks again trying to get my head in the right place, i'm not quite there as this is going to take a while but I have made my commitment. So here it is......
  • Before kick off I will shed this 3.1kg. (1.8 to go!)
  • I will train atleast 1 hour per day during preseaon.
  • During Round 2 I will NOT miss a training session.
  • I WILL kick butt doing Advanced Lean and Strong. (amending to Lean & Fit)
  • I WILL attend as much group training as possible.
  • I WILL become the Fit, Strong, Happy person I know I can be!!!

Preseason Task #4 Kitchen Makeover
I am happy to say that not too much 'bad food' was in  my pantry (I must have eaten it all by the time I did this task oops!) however it was great sorting through my pantry and fridge and cleaning it up and organising everything it its own little spot.

My Journey 2011-2012

So today is the last day of 12WBT Round 1 2012. This journey does not end today, it continues for life. To celebrate my achievements I have created a Video. I hope you enjoy this.

My Journey 2011-2012

Week 11 Weekly Surprise

So this week i've done another video for the Week 11 Weekly Surprise - Nominate someone who has inspired you. I have done this video, not with the aim of winning but as a thank you to someone who has helped me so much, possibly without even realising it herself.

I always wanted to lose my weight and become fit and healthy but I didn't have the confidence or inspiration to do it. I felt I wasn't worthy and I that is how I was living, I didn't care any more.

This gorgeous person introduced me to our local gym during 'bring a friend month' in June 2011. I didn't join up right away as I was going overseas on holiday that same month. When I got back I actually won a 3 month membership for that gym. I lost a little weight but it was slow - then my lovely friend introduced me to the program. I was unsure at first and kept putting off signing up, also hubby wasn't sure about me doing it. She  kept encouraging me to sign up and I did. Since then I haven't looked back. My life has changed for the better.

So thank you Kristy for everything you have done.

Round 1 2012 Week 10 Weekly Surprise - Video Blog

I didn't think I was going to get this finished this time, we've had internet issues so I wasn't sure it was going to be entered! I could have talked about all my achievements for a lot longer than the 3 minutes so I picked 3 of my favourite achievements.

So here it is, loaded and entered 50 minutes before the cut off LOL

Reaching my goals

What a journey this 12wbt has been so far. It is now week 10. A couple of weeks ago I hit goal weight and decided I had some more work to do so I reassessed and now I have 2.9kg till I hit my new goal weight. I am enjoying shopping in a range of stores I was too scared to enter 6 months ago. Today was the best, when at DFO I finally purchased an item of clothing. DFO for me was always about non clothing items as I was too big to find anything. Today I purchased a jacket and wait for it.................. A Finale Dress!!! And it is STRAPLESS!!! I am so proud of my arms and shoulders, my new best feature that I must show them off!!

So now i'm looking ahead, this 12wbt will not stop at the end of the 12 weeks for me, i'll be continuing through Round 2 Preseason and then hitting up Advanced Lean and Strong. This program has changed so many aspects of my life, inside and out. I'm loving the way I look, have a new found confidence, i'm happy and my family is much happier too. My kids are making healthier choices and have even started choosing healthier options themselves when out and about. I've always insisted they be active kids (infact they have no idea how to use a DS or the Wii) and on Wednesday they started up Auskick. My 4 year old was proud that he is running around exercising. And my daughter has been showing off her Burpee technique after I had to show her what a Burpee was! Definitely need to get that on video!!!

So we are in week 10, finale is coming up. It is head down bum up from here. I am gonna smash it up!!!

Turning around my downward spiral

For the past couple of weeks, i've had some bad eating days (severely bad). I couldn't figure out why I was doing this to myself. I've done fantastic and luckily the scales have still been heading down, even if it has been only slightly some weeks. I've finally realised that I got back into my old habit of eating instead of face my emotions. I've been having a few issues lately with certain family members who are not speaking to me due to my weight loss and each time I find out something else that has been said about me, I hit the pantry. WELL NO MORE OF THAT!!!

I really thought I was ok and that these negative people in my life weren't bothering me, but it seems I wasn't handling things as well as I thought I was.

It is my own fault I let it get to me and i'm owning it. So now it is back to basics for me and to get my head straight! And starting today i'm smashing it up again! 1021 cals burnt today. My goal is to burn 4000 cals over for days so I have 3000 to go!!!

Friday 23 March 2012

My Reward for hitting a healthy BMI

So i've been planning my reward for a while, infact it was booked for a while so I definitely had a set target date to hit a healthy BMI and I did it!!!

Thursday 22nd March I got my reward!

This design was taken from my daughters leggings that she had painted in Thailand, as soon as I saw the artwork I wanted it on my arm, had to be tweaked a little to make it tatt friendly but there it is. I love it! Now to work on a design for my next reward :)

What do you think of my new artwork?

12WBT Round 1 2012 Week 6

Can you believe it? Half way through the round already!

I've had a big week. Eaten 110% clean, trained well. I've done a lot more weights this week in the gym. One of my goals is to get over my fear of doing weights in front of others and i've discovered it isn't really doing the weights infront of others, it is more not wanting to wait around for the equipment! Some days it is so busy, it is just easier to do cardio.

I've started playing around with my food - still nutritious but i've been needing to shock my body and  maybe start eating a little more with the amount of exercise i'm doing. Well it worked. This week saw me lose another 1.7kg bringing me down to 64.1kg bringing me into a healthy BMI

I also conquered another fear this week. 12 years ago I tried Body Step and I was embarrassed out of the class when I fell off the step (that coordination thing that happens to me- or lack of coordination I should say!). So today.............. after deciding I need to shake it up a bit, I did Body Step and it was a tonne of fun! I still don't have the best coordination in the world but it was fun and a good laugh and it burnt some calories!

So big achievements this week for me with the weights, body step and a nice big weight loss! Tomorrow i'll be having a rest day and treating myself to a reward for all my hard work.

This is me at the half way mark of my 2nd round

Week 4 Measurements and Fitness Test

I can't believe how much i've been stressing this week. My weight loss has slowed dramatically and it has been playing on my mind. I've been exercising and eating clean and with only really maintaining my weight i've been very mentally fragile.

Today though I got a nice surprise. Measurements taken and fitness test done have proved that i'm progressing, and not just slightly but by quite a bit so here are My Stats!!!

Measurements:
Week 1                                      Week 4
Weight: 70.3kg                          66.6kg
Chest: 95cm                               90cm
Waist: 88cm                               83cm
Hips: 101cm                               96cm
L Thigh: 59cm                            55.5cm
R Thigh: 59cm                            56cm
L Arm: 25.5cm                           25.5cm
R Arm: 26cm                              26cm

Fitness Test
Week 1                                      Week 4
1km Time: 6:24                         5:01
Pushups Toes: 0                         24
Pushups Knees: 49                     53
Wall Sit: 1:31                             3:05
Sit & Reach: +2cm                    +7cm
Ab Stage: 2                                2

So it seems i'm doing well, in all things other than those dreaded Abs! I can actually do stage 5, just not stage 3 or stage 4!

Did my gym session today, didn't get to my SSS of 1000 cals but we have a busy day ahead and i'll go for a nice walk later on to make it up once we've reached our destination today. I've managed 718 cals so far.

Tomorrow hubby is taking me fishing, kind of excited and kind of nervous. I've got my food and snacks sorted so i'll be right with my calorie intake. Hopefully he'll allow me to go for a nice long walk to explore and hopefully not get lost hahaha

Round 1 week 4

I really must keep this blog up to date!!! So here is a quick overview.....

Well the last 4 weeks i've had a few ups and downs, as in my weight is up and down! Luckily on Weigh in Wednesday's it has been down or maintained. I was stressing yesterday so I grabbed that tape measure and did a quick measure up and i've been losing cm's so that helped the stress levels.

In Week 3 I set myself a challenge, burn 7000 cals in the week. I ended up burning 7272 cals for the week, ate rather well and maintained! Talk about disappointment!

So now it is week 4, i'm currently at a devlish 66.6kg and just managed to squeeze into some size 12 jeans I bought on special with a goal to be in them at week 4 and i've managed it, without struggling into them!

I've had a little bit of fun experimenting with creating my own meals and I have a few yummy ones and will start posting recipes once I have tweaked them.

Now tomorrow I need to do my fitness test and measurements. I've had a few issues with my Achilles so have been trying to rest it as much as possible before my 1km time trial but it hasn't stopped my training...... i've just changed what i'm doing a little!

Back tomorrow to update with my measurements!

PRESEASON TASKS 2-8

So i've been a little strange in the head and i've strayed from my blogging. I've done my tasks but I was in hiding from the world for a while but i'm back now and here is all my completed tasks!

Task 2 - Get Real
This is all about excuses. I thought i'd conquered them last round and I had, but a few more crept in over the school holidays. A big one for me was 'I'm too tired'. Over the holidays I started staying up way too late, afterall I didn't have to get the kids up and ready and I could relax in the mornings! Nup bad idea that was. My solution was obvious - go to bed earlier, if you want to watch something then record it and watch it the next day rather than sit infront of the idiot box all night. My other excuse is hormonal and to do with TTOTM. Well lets just say that some days I literally cannot leave the house. Another simple solution - do a workout at home. I have myself a Mish DVD and I really gotta use it on those days as well as my Wii Active!
A great excuse for me was 'It's too hot' which is strange because I love the heat. Just another excuse so I didn't have to bother on the school holidays! This is really bad because I do most of my workouts at the gym so I just gotta suck it up and JFDI - yup that is my solution and to help me with that, remember that in the heat I burn more cals!
Excuse #4 is injury. I did conquer this one in Round 3, I injured my calf muscle but I made sure I worked the upper body. BUT this excuse crept in again during the warmer days of summer. My calf was twinging and I was too scared i'd do damage to it again that I didn't do exercise!
My last excuse was 'Sick Children'. This is a hard one for me as my kids don't get sick often but when they do I skip the gym and mother them. So from now on when they are sick, i'll just workout at home.

Task 3 - Set your Goals
Round 3 2011 saw me smash my goals so resetting them was difficult for me as I am so very close to my goal weight that it is getting harder and I have no idea on my appropriate time frames now. So my main goal is to get to a healthy weight range (6kg to go) for the end of this round and then reassess once i've lost that 6kg.
My 6 month goal is to maintain and tone and in order to do this i'm already committed to signing up to Round 2 2012!
Now the big goal for me. I will run 5km by November 2012. I have a lot of work to do on this with building up the strength in my knees. During Round 1 2012 i'll be starting the C25k app to help me with this goal.

Task 4 - Gear Up
This one was easy for me. I have my Polar HRM, Gym Membership, Digital Kitchen Scales and for Christmas I got some fabulous Scales for my weigh ins. The only thing I really got myself was a new yoga mat.

Task 5 - Say it Out Loud
Here is my committment:
This round I am committed to losing a further 6kg. I will do this by eating clean and training 6 days per week at the gym. I will also get over my 'fear' of weight training in the gym and do my weight program at least weekly in addition to Body Pump classes.

Task 6 - Kitchen Makeover
Righto, Kitchen wasn't too bad. I did have a few better option 'treat' things for my daily snack allowance that I had to get rid of as those treats were more-ish and I couldn't stop at one. The kids have a few treats in there of which i'm not a fan so they aren't a danger to me. The hardest thing there is telling the kids that it is a very rare treat for them! My fridge is now stocked with yoghurts for my snacks and I have a nice big bowl of fruit on the kitchen bench. Just have to sort out a herb garden!

Task 7 - Organize and Diarize
I have my diary, and in it is my gym timetable as well as i've written in my exercise plan for each day. Shopping days will be Monday (child free finally woohoo!) and as for pre cooking meals I just make extra when cooking dinner and then freeze leftovers into portions. My Red Flags that I know of are all planned out as are my milestone/fitness test weeks.

Task 8 - Measure Up
Done and dusted! Nice to see smaller numbers from my Round 3 12 week measure up :) I've also noticed my thigh measurements have evened out and my thighs are now the same size LOL

So my tasks are done for this round. I'm ready to SMASH IT!

Weigh in and Video Blog

Weigh In Wednesday is here! Did you have good news this morning? I've lost 305g since Friday and really need to start keeping track of my WEDNESDAY weigh in's so into my diary i've written my weight from today. That'll teach me for weighing several times a day - just to make sure the scales aren't lying to me!

So now i'm brave enough for the world to see my video blog entry from  Round 3 2011. This is the first time i'd made a video like this, infact i'd never used a webcam myself LOL (computer nerd hubby had one set up that we used to use occasionally but I never worked it myself). So here it is.

Preseason Task #1 - Introduce Yourself

Preseason is here and i've just completed my first preseason task - Introduce yourself.

So i've posted a little spiel about me in the forums. Who I am, where I am and why I joined 12wbt. So I thought i'd post it here too...

"Hello fellow 12wbters, are you as excited as I am? Preseason is finally here!!!

I am Chantelle, 31, a stay at home mum from Melton, Victoria.

I am back for my 2nd Round after a huge success in Round 3 2012. I have a few more kg's to go till I get to my initial goal and then i'll reassess my goals. I thought I was ready last round, but this time I am more determined to achieve and smash my goals.

Looking forward to this round!"

Pre-season

So tomorrow is Pre-Season for 12WBT Round 1 2012.

I'm all set! I'm still following the program from Round 3, other than creating a few of my own recipes and i'm getting quite good at it too!

So i'm starting this Pre-Season super close to my initial goal weight. During Round 1 i'll smash this goal and the reassess where I want to be. No doubt i'm sure I can do more!

This Round i've got my sister and a couple of close friends joining me so i'm really looking forward to following their progress and being able to help them as much as I can. Looking forward to completing all my Pre-Season tasks and kicking some butt (kicking the excess fat off it anyway!)

Good luck to all 12WBT'ers I know you can achieve great things!

Settling into 2012

Well there has been a few hiccups this year, but I didn't do too badly at all. I've maintained and then had a loss but I haven't put on which is the main thing. I had a few issues with the creche being closed but now that has reopened i'm fully getting back into my routine. This week i've done a lot of bike riding after setting myself a challenge.....

For every like my Facebook status got I was to ride 1km. Well I got 35 likes so I tripled it and said i'd complete it in a week. Tomorrow is my last day and I have 23km left to ride. I can do it and I will JFDI. I've had to rearrange my timetable to complete this challenge but that just helps me to mix it up a bit.

So what is my next challenge? I am going to do C25k (Couch to 5km for those unsure). I am awaiting my new running shoes to arrive and I just need to download the program onto my iPod (having a few iTunes issues which are currently being resolved) and then i'm good to go! I'm not a runner, never have been a runner but I want to learn to run and put another notch in my achievement belt.

I want to take this opportunity, being my first post for 2012, to thank my wonderful family and friends for your support. You've made this journey so much easier and especially to my wonderful husband, who does night shift but often will get up earlier in the evening to have the kids while I head to the gym for either Combat or Boxing! You're awesome and I love you :)
